New Pages

You recently completed lab 3. Your web site consists of the following web pages: index.html, resume.html, and company.html. By the time you have finished lab 7 it is likely you will have at least 10 completed web pages making up your web site.

As a web designer, it is best to not include too much information on one page. It is considered "good design" to spread your information out in multiple pages rather than squeezing as much as you can in just one page. Smaller web pages are easier to read and navigate than larger web pages.

You might want to create a page about yourself, your CIS 1055 class, your favorite sports team, your favorite movie, etc. Just make sure you name your files with all lowercase letters, do not use spaces in your filename, and make sure you save your html files as .html files.

There is more than one way to create a new page using Dreamweaver. Your instructor may share additional ways to create new pages, but here is one of the easiest ways:

1 - Make sure your site is opened in Dreamweaver

2 - Right-click with your mouse while pointing to your site folder in the folder list (see the red box in the image below - the site folder is always at the top and has word "site" next to the green folder)

3 - Choose the option "New File" - This will create a page named untitled.html - rename this to any html file name you wish like hobbies.html or homework.html.

4 - Double-click on the file name of the page you just created to open it for editing.

4 - Once you have the blank page showing on your screen you should type in the title in the title box found at the top of the blank page and then click on the save button

5 - Fill in the web page with all necessary text, links, images, and more. Save your page often!

Your new page is now created and can be found in your files panel group on the right hand side of your Dreamweaver window.
