SKILLS
FOR HISTORY STUDENTS
Historians develop many skills in order to practice their discipline. The History Department at Temple Universitiy expects that as a result of your participation in Superpower America, an advanced (200-level) course, you will acquire and/or sharpen the following skills:
·
comparing varied interpretations of
historical events
·
collecting and organizing
historical data
·
employing primary and secondary
sources to construct an historical argument
·
writing with clarity
and precision
·
using standard methods of citation
·
refining command of library and
Internet research skills
It will be beneficial
if you keep in mind these skills as you progress in this course over the
semester, especially but not exclusively when you are preparing assignments. I
will keep them in mind as well during our discussions.
