Long a standard of campfire singalongs and classroom songbooks, Clementine is a mock love song, whose ingenuous narrator tells of watching his unattractive lover drown, and getting together with her sister. This video piece takes the opportunity provided by this song to deconstruct its perverse male gaze, and offer Clementine a voice, and a chance at true love at last.
