After living in New York City for all of my adult life, I moved somewhere else. To be more specific, I moved to Peekskill. Peekskill is a small city on the Hudson River, about 50 miles north of New York City. Not so far away from New York City, yet Peekskill is definitely Somewhere Else. Although I continue to commute to The City, most people in Peekskill do not. For them, of course, Peekskill is not Somewhere Else, it is Somewhere.

I am presenting here a few stories that people in Peekskill have told to me (as well as my own).

Hearing their stories has helped me to place myself, to find myself Somewhere. In the process, I am extending their community to the Web. Perhaps this may be a point of contact for us here in Peekskill.
